Dr Brooke Kalanick ND, MS, LAc

A licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and functional medicine practitioner.

Areas of Specialty

Dr. Brooke attended Seattle, Washington’s Bastyr University, where she earned a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and Masters in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. She has continued her learning in her areas of specialty – weight loss, women’s health and hypothyroidism – by studying and working with leading functional medicine physicians including Dr Datis Kharrahzian, Dr David Brady, and Dr Tori Hudson.

Prior to attending Bastyr, Dr. Brooke received a BA in biology from Seattle Pacific University and has a partially completed Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from Washington State University.

She is well-versed in prescription medications, and takes a balanced approach to using both conventional and alternative therapies. Her areas of expertise include female health, hypothyroidism and autoimmunity with specialties in PCOS, Hashimoto’s, menopause and weight loss.

Becoming Dr Brooke

After graduation from Bastyr, Dr. Brooke was Director of Health and Wellness for a chain of fitness centers in Seattle. There she created and implemented a successful wellness and weight loss program and further developed her expertise in strength training and exercise.

Shortly after relocating New York City she co-authored her first book and continued to work closely with some of the most exceptional personal trainers in the business including Rob Sulaver of My Diet Is Better Than Yours (ABC) and Brett Hobel of The Biggest Loser (NBC). Dr Brooke was an original Advisory Board member of the premier fitness resource for women, Girls Gone Strong.

Dr Brooke has been a guest on Martha Stewart Living Radio, featured in the New York Times and is a consulted expert for a variety of print and online publications including iVillage, Women’s Health Magazine, FITNESS Magazine, Oxygen, Allure and Health Magazine.

In 2014, she met with international best selling author and creator of Everyday Paleo, Sarah Fragoso and it was love at first sight! They’ve been working together ever since in their online coaching programs, weekly podcast and in their book Hangry: 5 Simple Steps To Balance Your Hormones And Restore Your Joy (St. Martin’s Press, 2019).

Dr Brooke maintains a private practice and lives with her two adorable daughters and funny man, Joe Larson (who you may know from eDiscovery’s Babies Behaving Badly of America’s got Talent).
