This is a party you may not want to attend, but here you are.
(and you can stop scrolling on IG and getting a bunch of mixed information)
RSVP A Resounding YES!You’re Invited to the PeriParty!
This is a party you may not want to attend, but here you are.
Overwhelm barely describes the demands of modern women in midlife.
The stakes are HIGH: it’s our future on the line as well as our present.
And there are soooo many unanswered questions.
It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to. I actually can’t help it, my estrogen is low.
The PeriParty is for you if:
You aren’t showing up in your life the way you want to because: hormones.
Yoru nutrition plan and exercise regimen seem to be falling real short all of a sudden. What works just doesn’t anymore.
Your sleep is a mess, you’re tired, you’re gaining weight (often in the middle).
You’re in your 40s or 50s but your joints feel like they are in their 80s: creaking down the stairs in the morning, struggling with exercise recovery or frequent injuries.
You’re anxious and/or depressed – honestly going through all this: who wouldn’t be?
You can’t remember why you walked in the room – or why you’re on this page??
You’re confused/alarmed/overwhelmed with allllll the HRT info out there – and getting conflicting messages from your doctor and your social media feed.
Libidio….what’s that again?
Despite enduring all this we are desperately trying to be good partners, employees, bosses, friends, daughters and often mothers.
I can honestly say I’ve cried more in the last two years of perimenopause that I’ve cried in the last decade. I felt so far from myself and so utterly alone. And even as a hormone expert I struggled to find the right HRT regimen.
HRT is dominating the midlife conversation and it’s a piece of the puzzle for many women for sure – but it’s a piece of the puzzle not the whole puzzle.
Midlife is a time of reckoning. Coming face to face with our past choices, our future dreams and it’s also a time of grief.
I know you hear everyone talking about how in their 40s they don’t give as many effs as they did before and they feel more empowered and beautiful. And that’s great, I love that for them.
Where was the conversation about any regrets?
Why aren’t we talking more about how it feels to realize you are starting your second act – and ending your first?
Can we talk about how sad, scary and humbling it feels to face the loss of a former version of themselves? Not just how we look, but how we’ve been changed by what we’ve been through?
Where is the sharing of the sadness that it doesn’t feel like we have our “whole lives ahead of us” as we did in our 20s?
When our health changes due to low hormones and we can’t do all the things we used to do the way we did it, it’s frustrating but why aren’t we talking about how scary that feels to witness our bodies aging in a new way?
Many women arrive at this phase of life feeling disappointment in so many ways, why does it feel like we can’t say that?
While I do feel more empowered in many ways, I feel the conversation around midlife is upbeat and positive – so yes – but also it’s not super authentic.
It’s a mistake not to feel all the feels about this. This ish is hard.
It’s only by really walking through this phase of life – the good and the bad – that we can emerge in midlife truly empowered, with a renewed sense of self and a new commitment to being a lady in the second act.
And man do I love a good act one finale, you’ve all seen Wicked right???
We need to boldly step into this new phase and appreciate all the lessons learned and wonderful things to come. Defy gravity as the witches said.
We also talk about regret. I have some, I’m sure you do too.
We need to grieve a little, mourn a bit those regrets and that some part of our lives are over.
We need to talk about recommitting to what matters most now, it’s likely not the same as a decade ago.
And we need to figure out how to feel our best now and in the future.
That’s what the Periparty is all about.
We will cover HRT, we will cover supplements, diet and exercise too.
And we’ll have the space for the hard conversations, face our sadness and fears and emerge whole again on the other side.
Like you I am feeling sandwiched in between growing kids and aging parents just when you expected things might get a little easier.
Many of us are arriving at perimenopause less than prepared – not just without info but not in our best health.
The last five years have been a whole lot. Much change, much uncertainty and much stress. Let’s not forget we just lived through a global pandemic from a very inflammatory little virus.
