I’m just gonna come right out and say it: I stink at accepting help from others. I also know, I’m not alone in that! It can bring up feelings of guilt that we can’t do it all ourselves, an uncomfortable sense of “I don’t deserve help” or “I don’t want to put anyone out” or even “I don’t want to owe anyone anything. However, when we don’t accept help from others we are furthering our lack of trust that we can be cared for by others safely and we are denying those that love us the chance to boost their oxytocin and give to us. It’s good for our self-compassion, self-love and connections to others to be helped so I dedicated some time to talking about why it may be hard for you and how to change your outlook on it for healing and getting some help when you need it!
