Dr Brooke Show #340 How Exercise Impacts Your Blood Sugar

June 28, 2023

On the whole, we know exercise is helpful to balance blood sugar. However, for those of you that feel badly after exercise or those of you that get a strange reading on your CGM (continuous glucose monitor) after a workout I wanted to clear up any confusion as to what’s happening and why. In this episode I also cover what types of training cause various types of blood sugar highs and lows, what’s a problem and what’s not as well as how to adjust if you’re not feeling great after a workout or running out of energy and suspect it’s your blood sugar that’s the cause.

Are you dealing with all that comes with perimenopause and need a little help? Be sure to email me about joining my amazing perimenopause coaching group: the PeriParty! We’re tackling this dicey time with the right information, exercise and nutrition – and having a lot of fun in the process! Just reach out for more info.

One of THE BEST tools for your health is a CGM, continuous glucose monitor. It helps you effortlessly understand what foods work for you and even how stress and sleep impact your blood sugar allowing you to make changes in real time. A CGM also allows you to see your glucose variability (the difference between your highs and lows) which may be as important as how high your blood sugar runs. It’s an amazing tool and Nutrisense has my favorite interface with their app and dietitian support! It’s easy and straightforward and with code BETTEREVERYDAY at checkout you can save 30% off a subscription. Click here and be well on your way to better health.

This episode is also sponsored by LMNT Electrolytes! These high sodium, well balanced hydration boosters are perfect for low carb dieters, those doing keto or when employing intermittent or any type of fasting. Skip the brain fog, low energy, cravings and perform better with LMNT electrolytes. Get your FREE sample pack here!
